The Journal of Military Experience
The first volume of poetry, prose, and artwork written and produced by veterans at Eastern Kentucky University sold all over the country, raising money for both the continuation of this important project and EKU’s “Operation Veteran Success,” a combination of mentoring, retention, and scholarship programs meant to keep student veterans on the path to new future.
The JME has been recognized by The USA Today, The American Legion, The Associated Press and a number of local newspapers and national, military-related websites since its release in April 2011.
Now it’s time! We are beginning work on The Journal of Military Experience: Volume II. Again, we are asking for the courage, honesty, and creativity of service men and women willing to share their stories and express themselves with the greater community.
Also, we intend to expand the scope of the JME to include scholarship of those throughout the academic disciplines as well as the insights and reflections of professionals working directly with the veteran population. In short, we want to hear what you have to say.
· We will publish creative non-fiction, poetry, artwork, photography and other, pre-approved mediums of expression.
· We are interested in scholarship pertaining to war literature, historical studies, anthropological studies, and psycho/social studies.
· We would love to hear from practitioners working with the Department of Veterans Affairs or those who have worked with veterans in higher education.
Creative submissions from/about all branches and eras of service are welcome.
All scholarly articles should use the most recent formatting guidelines of the Modern Language Association (MLA)
Authors/Artists retain all rights to their work following publication in print and/or online form by The Journal of Military Experience.
